Everything parents and prospective cadets need to know about joining TTCF.
What should cadets wear?
New cadets should wear comfortable clothing for their first few sessions. Once enrolled, cadets receive an official TTCF uniform including field dress, parade uniform, boots, and accessories. Uniforms must be kept clean and properly maintained.
What is involved in being a cadet?
Cadets attend weekly training sessions (Tuesday/Thursday 1500-1700hrs, Saturday 0800-1300hrs) covering drill, physical training, leadership, map reading, and specialist skills. Cadets also participate in camps, competitions, community service, and ceremonial events throughout the year.
What do parents need to know?
Parents/guardians must provide written consent for enrollment and emergency contact information. We encourage parents to attend orientation sessions, stay informed about activities, and support their cadet's development. All activities are supervised by trained adult officers with appropriate safety measures.
Are there medical requirements or restrictions?
Cadets should be in general good health suitable for physical activity. A medical consent form is required listing any conditions, allergies, or medications. Our First Aid Unit provides medical support at all activities, and officers are trained to handle emergencies. Accommodations are made for cadets with specific needs.
How do cadets obtain uniforms?
Initial uniforms are issued upon enrollment through the battalion quartermaster. Additional items, replacement pieces, and optional merchandise can be purchased from the TTCF Cadet Supply Store. Financial assistance is available for families requiring support through the TTCF Cadet Foundation.
Is the Cadet Force safe for young people?
Yes. TTCF operates under strict Child Protection Act policies and safety protocols. All adult volunteers undergo background checks and safeguarding training. Risk assessments are conducted for all activities, and supervision ratios are maintained. Safety is our highest priority in everything we do.
How does TTCF accommodate religious customs?
TTCF respects all religious beliefs and practices. Accommodations are made for prayer times, dietary requirements, and religious observances. Activities are scheduled to avoid conflicts with major religious holidays. Cadets are never required to participate in activities contrary to their faith.
Are there fees to join TTCF?
TTCF is a government-sponsored organisation with minimal costs. A small annual registration fee covers administrative expenses and insurance. Uniforms are issued at cost. Optional activities like regional camps may have nominal fees. The TTCF Cadet Foundation provides financial assistance to ensure no young person is excluded due to cost.
